Tim & I met with Dr. Martin again today. The pathology on the biopsy my left breast came back as benign/high risk so we will be moving forward with a bilateral mastectomy. The next stop on the breast cancer tour is an appointment with the plastic surgeon, Dr. John Hulsen, next Friday to discuss reconstruction with him. Meanwhile, Dr. Martin's office is working on scheduling a date that works for both surgeons so that we can get this show on the road. A COVID test will need to be done 5-7 days ahead of my surgery and then a quarantine for me along with all the fun preop testing that needs to be done.

I'm at peace with our decision. We (Dr. Martin, Tim & I) all feel it's the smartest, most reasonable thing to do at this point to reduce the chance of anything else developing that would require me to go through another procedure. Our plan is to do or at least start reconstruction at the same time as the mastectomy. Chemo/Radiation determination will come after pathology is done following surgery and then we’d meet with the Medical Oncologist.
