One of the things that recovering from this surgery has done is taken me away from watching my boys do what they love to do, play sports. This weekend it was baseball ⚾️ again, but I know it won’t be forever. I will, though however, come hell or high water, be at Mason’s first Home High School Freshman soccer ⚽️ game on Tuesday after we have our appointment with my Medical Oncologist. That I will not miss for anything! He has worked so hard to get to this point and Tim and I encouraged him to pursue high school soccer when he was ready to give it up all together after a not so great experience last year with his club team. We are so glad he stuck with it because he was named a co-captain for his team and is really looking forward to playing!
I wake up every morning and lay in bed thinking.....I don’t hurt.....today is going to be a good day 😁 and then I get up and start moving around and that all changes. I have been struggling with being comfortable due to the expanders in my chest - again I just have to keep reminding myself that they are temporary and this is a journey and that it’s not forever but they just aren’t comfortable. Things press on them and they hurt and I am dealing with burning/neuropathy as well. Dr Hulsen said that the neuropathy should improve over time 🤞 which I’m hopeful about because it’s not pleasant. Sometimes I feel like I’m being a whiner because I could have it so much worse and that I need to suck it up. Tomorrow will be 4 weeks since my surgery. Hopefully I’ll be able to feel more like myself again soon and be a little more comfortable as time passes.
So, other than a couple short trips to get Jack to/from work this weekend since Tim was with Mason at his baseball games and having a visit and an awesome dinner cooked for us by my brother Hank and sister in law, Tricia, and sweet niece Sophie, I have again laid low letting my body heal and I actually napped today which I haven’t needed in a while.
Drs appointments this week on Tuesday to discuss treatment that comes next and Thursday with Dr Hulsen for another “pump me up” visit 😳.
That’s it for now!
P.S - look at my awesome “door of love”!! It’s full! I’m going to have to move over to the pantry door since I’ve run out of room! 💕
