Another NEW Doctor Added To The Mix - 10/7/20

One thing that I had let slide this year was my annual exam with my OBGYN, but getting a diagnosis of breast cancer kind of trumped me making my appointment. But now that surgery is behind me I scheduled my appointment but it had to be with a new Dr as the one who delivered both of our boys and who I’ve been seeing for years retired the end of last month. 😢

So here I am today meeting a new OBGYN for the first time! Talk about meeting a mew patient in a firestorm. I had my “medical history document” that another BC patient had suggested that I compile and take with me to every Drs appointment . It definitely impresses the Nurses and has all the info that they need to know without me having to go thru it all, it just gets added to my file. The Dr. walks in and says “well 2020 has not been very nice to you has it? You get a little asterisk next to your name for 2020” and then proceeds to sit down and talk to me for a good 20+ minutes telling me that because of my breast cancer and the medication that I am now taking he will be watching me like a hawk from now on and said he wanted to do a baseline ultrasound to monitor for uterine cancer and that he will probably do one every 3 or 6 months. He told me if at ANY time I had concerns or questions to call him; weekend, night time, didn’t matter....call him. He said that he understands how scary what I’ve been through is and that he will do what he can do to monitor some of the risks that come with having to take Tamoxifen and try to alleviate some of my fears.

New OBGYN for the win! Thanks, Bets! Good call!!! 👍🏼

I’m doing better comfort-wise this week too which is nice. The combination of Celebrex, 1/2 diazepam, & Tylenol seems to be helping me with the expanders and I only have mild discomfort most of the time with a few sharper pains that hit out of the blue. 😳 Those aren’t fun. Still sleeping on my back with pillows propped under my sides but it works. I’ve been back in the office 1/2 days this week as well like I had been doing since March. So we’re slowly returning to some regularity in our life (with gentle reminders from Tim not to over do it). Meals are still coming a few times a week and they are so appreciated!

We have another visit to the Plastic Surgeon scheduled for next Tuesday for another small fill and hopefully after that or possibly one additional one, I will be where I want to be and we can possibly get my exchange done before the end of the year and start 2021 fresh and new! 🤞

I also got a great message (in my photos) from a friend who is a member of a Moms board that I’ve been a part of since before Jack was born. She did her nails today in honor of me and Breast Cancer Awareness Month. She said that a portion of the cost of the decals and the dip powder goes towards funding Breast Cancer Research! Thanks Jennifer 💕 I’m touched!
