A Very Happy Birthday & an Even Better Post Op Appointment - 10/19/21

Well, I didn't expect anything to top last year's birthday (you can scroll back to 10/17/20 if you want to see what I am talking about) but my birthday on Sunday was a great day. Most would have called it chaotic but I spent it watching Jack do what he loves to do - play baseball. He had back-to-back baseball games at Lindenwood University for a tournament and the weather was AMAZING! What started out as a chilly morning turned into a beautiful 70-degree day here in St. Louis with not a cloud in the sky. I sat in the sun watching Jack's games and listening to Mason's baseball game on my phone. It was a divide and conquer kind of day for us but we're used to it. Once baseball was over and we all were home, I opened presents from Tim & the boys and we had dinner from Joey B's (one of my favorites). Mason headed off to a friend's house to watch football and I sat and relaxed watching TV with Tim while Jack played Xbox in the next room. I talked to family in SC, NJ, MS, and here in MO and wished we could all be together but know that it's just not possible. Another trip around the sun. 52 was a challenge so I'm hoping that 53 will be a bit kinder. Today I had another post-op appointment with my Plastic Surgeon. He removed the dressings that were on my incisions, trimmed away some rogue stitch tails, and said that things looked wonderful! My bruising is pretty much gone and he said that he is confident that the fat grafting was successful and that I shouldn't lose any based on how things look now. 3-4 months is the true timeframe for when he will be able to tell for sure but he said since it was placed on good healthy tissue, it should survive! Fingers crossed that he's correct b/c I'm not sure I'd want to do that again.

I was freed from my binder and can go without or can wear a compression garment like Spanx to help some of the residual swelling in my sides/back to go down if I want to. I am still numb & tender in my back from the fat grafting. As he said at my first post-op appointment, that should HOPEFULLY resolve itself over time.

At this point, I am satisfied with the results of my revision which is the outcome that we were hoping for. I will go back in 3 months for a check-up and then will see him on a yearly basis.
