We had a post-op appointment with my Plastic Surgeon today. He was very pleased with how things are looking with the bruising and healing and how the grafting looks so far. It will be 3-4 months before we know if it actually takes or not so we’re keeping our fingers crossed. He was very surprised that I said I had done well pain/discomfort-wise last week and hadn’t been completely miserable until yesterday when I spent a whole day working at my desk/computer and became very uncomfortable and could not find anything that would help and ended up taking a muscle relaxer AND pain pill. I was very gently reminded that I need to ease back into things work-wise and not push myself so hard. As Dr. Hulsen was saying that, I could feel Tim sitting behind me nodding his head and saying “I told you so!” 😜 Okay…..I can be stubborn sometimes! I’ll admit it.
The drains were removed (yippee) as were the stitches in my chest and back. I will have dressings on my incisions under my Foobs for a few more weeks while they heal some more. I’m stuck with the binder for another week 24/7 and then will transition to just during the day while I’m up & moving around. The binder helps keep things compressed and reduces inflammation. Taking it off feels SOOOOOO good but at the same time makes things hurt so I’m trying my best to tolerate it. The surgical bra stays on 24/7 for another 5 weeks as well to keep things in place while it all heals. 🤬
All in all, other than overdoing it yesterday, I’ve tried my best to take it easy. I missed both Jack & Mason’s baseball games last weekend and have missed 3 of Mason’s JV soccer games in the past week. If you know me well, you know it’s very hard for me to miss my boys playing their sports so I’m trying; I really am.
We’ve had some great meals on our meal train so far and a very generous gift card from the Parkway West JV Soccer Team Families to help with groceries. We are so fortunate to have such amazing support!
In a few weeks will be PINK NIGHT at the PWHS JV soccer game and you can bet we will be there so stay tuned for pictures! I love everything that Parkway West does to acknowledge Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I did even before my diagnosis but now it means even more to me. 💕
Just wanted to share an update. So far, so good! Just taking things a day at a time like always. Thank you for your continued prayers and well wishes!
